NEWS RELEASE WELLINGTON COUNTY OPP
(CENTRE WELLINGTON TOWNSHIP, ON) – A Cambridge driver is facing impaired charges following a collision in Salem.
On July 11, 2026, at approximately 3:30 p.m., members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to the report two vehicle collision near Wellington Road 7 and Wellington Road 18 in Salem.
No injuries were reported.
As a result of the investigation, a 29-year-old from Cambridge, is charged under the Criminal Code, the Highway Traffic Act, the Liquor Licence Control Act with:
- Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
- Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
- Careless driving
- Having care or control of a motor vehicle with open container of liquor
The accused was released from police custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario County of Justice in Guelph on August 21, 2026.
