FERGUS – The closure of St. David Street North in Fergus has been extended until August 14, as crews continue work on the second phase of the reconstruction project.
The continuation of Phase 2 is taking place from approximately 50 metres north of Garafraxa Street to Edinburgh Avenue.
The project includes paving between St. Andrew Street and Edinburgh Avenue, while crews also complete outstanding work from the original reconstruction, including final landscaping and other deficiencies.
Township officials say the base layer of asphalt was laid last week, with the final surface asphalt scheduled to be installed in the middle of next week.
The remainder of the project will include grading and paving the bike lanes, completing the remaining sidewalks, adding topsoil and sod to the boulevards, and planting trees before the road can fully reopen.
St. David Street North remains closed to through traffic, and motorists are encouraged to follow posted detours and plan ahead while construction continues.
