According to a Wellington County OPP press release two vehicles have recently been impounded due to impaired driving in Fergus.
On July 24 at around 9:30 p.m. police conducted a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) spot check at the intersection of Gordon Street and Gzowski Street and stopped a vehicle due to signs of impairment.
As a result of the OPP investigation a 45-year-old Fergus resident has been charged with operating while impaired and received a 90 day license suspension; their vehicle impounded for seven days.
The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Guelph on September 4.
On July 26 at roughly 4 p.m. police said they conducted a proactive traffic enforcement initiative and it resulted in a traffic stop on St. David Street North.
Police said an investigation revealed that a 46-year-old Fergus resident has been charged with operating while impaired, driving a motor vehicle without insurance and driving a motor vehicle without a valid permit.
Their vehicle was impaired for seven days and the driver received a 90 day license suspension.
The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Guelph on September 4.
Police said if residents suspect an impaired driver, they should call 911 as soon as possible and report the vehicle to police.
