Multiple municipalities are reminding residents that elections are on the horizon; Oct. 26, 2026 is when the next wave of municipal elections makes landfall in Wellington County.
If residents have moved since the last election, or changed personal information, they should visit the website https://www.registertovoteon.ca/ and update any outstanding credentials.
Those who qualify must be at least 18-years-old; they must be a Canadian citizen and a resident, non-resident who owns or rents property in the municipality or spouse of an owner or tenant of property in the municipality.
The previous municipal election was held on Oct. 24, 2022, and according to the Association of Municipalities of Ontario (AMO) the turnout figure of 32.9 per cent is down from 2018’s election turnout of 38.3 per cent.
