Back on July 6 the Township of Centre Wellington hosted public consultations regarding a planned disc golf course at Elora’s Drimmie Park.
According to Centre Wellington there were a number of concerns and benefits discussed by residents;
The park has been underutilized and it would benefit from more recreational activity, disc golf is affordable and accessible and adds to the variety of recreational programs in the area.
However, residents were concerned about the size of the park and said it’s “too small and too close to homes.”
Having a nearby disc golf course also brings the risk of damaging private property and would redevelop the passive green space which can be used for a variety of activities.

As a result of the feedback, Centre Wellington has published two revised concepts for the Drimme Park Disc Golf Course.
The new designs direct play away from homes and also promotes shorter, more predictable throws.
Concept 2 in particular features a more compact 2-hole layout, offering multiple tee-off locations to maintain the modular space.
“As this is intended to be a pilot project the Township will continue to monitor its use and remains flexible to remove, relocate or add baskets in response to ongoing community feedback,” the Township said in their report.
A public feedback form is available on the Township website and will be open until Aug. 21 at midnight.
