MINTO: According to a Wellington County OPP press release a Clifford resident faces five charges related to impaired driving following a local traffic complaint.
OPP said on Aug. 8, at approximately 7:30 p.m., officers were conducting traffic enforcement when they received a complaint from the public regarding a possibly impaired driver on Nelson Street West in Clifford.
Police said the complaint mentioned a vehicle striking a guard rail.
Officers immediately began to search the area, and promptly located the car and its driver.
As a result of their investigation, Wellington County OPP have charged a 37-year-old from Minto with;
- Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
- Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
- Novice driver B.A.C. above zero
- Driver fail to surrender licence
- Fail to report damage to property on highway
Aa 90-day licence suspension was issued and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
The accused is scheduled to appear in Guelph courts on Sept. 15, 2026.
