The Canadian Alliance for Net-Zero Agri-food (CANZA) has updated its digital Environmental Outcomes Marketplace with a new tool designed to combine potential programs for farmers.
These programs provide financial assistance to farmers for adopting regenerative agricultural practices to encourage a more environmentally-conscious process.
CANZA’s newest stacking tool aims to broaden the horizons for farmers and crop advisors considering these programs by combining opportunities for the most effective coverage.
Ashley Honsberger, CANZA’s interim executive director, said combining programs makes the funding more accessible, further enhances the sustainability factor and lowers the risk for experimental farming practices.
She said the agriculture industry has really changed its approach to land-use by using more science-based evidence from Canadian expertise and data to determine what farming practices are best for a specific parcel of land.
The marketplace takes that scientific approach and lowers the barrier of entry for farmers to explore more sustainable options.
Honsberger said the sustainability data can be used, for example, to show Canadian consumers how their food was grown and its environmental impact.
CANZA launched its marketplace in April 2026 but only for Ontario as a pilot program; CANZA plans to expand the marketplace to other provinces.
Honsberger said the marketplace has been seeing consistently increasing levels of web traffic.
Based on feedback from farmers and crop advisors, she said making these programs more available and accessible for farmers is a significant step forward.
The stacking tool is now available on CANZA’s online marketplace.
