NEWS RELEASE WELLINGTON COUNTY OPP
(WELLINGTON NORTH TOWNSHIP, ON) – Charges have been laid against a Guelph resident following a historical intimate partner violence investigation.
On July 23, 2026, at approximately 9:45 a.m., members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), launched an investigation after receiving a report of historical intimate partner violence incidents that occurred at a residence in Mount Forest on various dates between June 2020 and November 2025.
As a result of the investigation, a 48-year-old from Guelph, is charged under the Criminal Code with:
- Sexual assault (four counts)
- Assault – spousal (three counts)
- Forcible confinement (three counts)
The accused was released from police custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Guelph on a later date.
The OPP will not release names to protect the identity of the victim(s).
