FERGUS – The Fergus Highland Rugby Football Club is giving back to the community following a successful summer food drive.
The club’s Highland Against Hunger campaign brought in nearly 500 pounds of food for the Centre Wellington Food Bank, along with more than $600 in cash donations.
The campaign was led by the club’s Masters HOGS team and its Minis program, with players, families and community members encouraged to donate throughout the summer.
The donations were recently presented to Centre Wellington Food Bank Executive Director Curt McQueen by members of Fergus Highland RFC.
Highland officials say they’re proud to support the local food bank and the people it serves.
“We’re proud to be able to partner with the Centre Wellington Food Bank in this effort, which makes a huge difference in our community,” Highland officials said.
The club says the campaign is part of its broader commitment to supporting the local community, both on and off the rugby pitch.
