GUELPH – Guelph Police took eight drivers off the road over the holiday weekend for stunt driving, including a 16-year-old who was caught going more than twice the speed limit.
Police say the teen was stopped just before 9:30 Saturday night on Gordon Street near Clair Road.
He was clocked doing 137 kilometres an hour in a posted 60 zone.
The Wellington County teen is facing charges of stunt driving, speeding and careless driving.
His licence has been suspended for 30 days, while the family SUV he was driving was impounded for 14 days.
Police say seven other drivers were also charged with stunt driving over the weekend, with speeds ranging from 41 to 55 kilometres an hour over the posted limit.
