CENTRE WELLINGTON – A 74-year-old Fergus resident is dead following a serious multi-vehicle collision in Centre Wellington.
The Wellington County O-P-P says the crash happened around 12:15 Thursday afternoon at the intersection of Highway 6 and Wellington Road 22.
This is the Cox Creek intersection which is currently under construction for a round about.
OPP say the 74-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene.
The other driver an 82-year-old Elora resident was also seriously injured. They were taken to a local hospital before being airlifted to a trauma centre.
Police are not releasing the identity of the deceased out of respect for the family.
The O-P-P’s Traffic Incident Management Enforcement team and Wellington County O-P-P are investigating.
Highway 6 is closed between Wellington Road 51 and 6th Line in Ennotville, while Wellington Road 22 and 8th Line are closed between Campbell Road and Wellington Road 7.
There is no estimated reopening time, and motorists are being asked to use alternate routes.
The cause of the collision remains under investigation.
