Wellington County OPP say officers were conducting proactive patrols in Mount Forest around 3:30 Thursday morning when they noticed a suspicious person.
Moments later, police were called to a business on Main Street for an alarm.
When officers arrived, they found the business had been broken into, but the suspect had already left the area.
Police say they quickly identified and located the suspect nearby.
A 48-year-old from Mount Forest has been charged with break and enter to commit an indictable offence and theft under $5,000.
The individual was released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in Guelph at the Ontario Court of Justice on December 8th.
