MINTO – Wellington County OPP are appealing to the public for information following the theft of several thousand dollars’ worth of copper wire in Minto Township.
Police say officers responded to a theft at a business on 12th Line around 6:30 p.m. Monday.
The investigation found the theft happened sometime between 11 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. Monday, when one or more unknown suspects attended the property and stole the copper wire.
The investigation remains ongoing, and police are asking anyone with information to come forward.
OPP says quote “Telecommunication wires are often targeted for their copper content, which is commonly resold at scrap yards, making them a target for theft.”
Residents are also being encouraged to report any suspicious activity around telecommunications infrastructure.
