WELLINGTON COUNTY – Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Public Health (WDGPH) want residents to get their flu and COVID-19 vaccines soon to help protect themselves and others during respiratory illness season.
Associate medical officer of health, Dr. Matthew Tenenbaum, said in a press release “We prepare for fall and winter in all kinds of ways, and getting vaccinated should be part of that routine.”
The health unit said flu and COVID-19 vaccines are available to everyone six months of age and older and can be safely received during the same visit.
According to data from Public Health Ontario respiratory viruses such as COVID-19, influenza and respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) are noticeably more common in the fall-winter months compared to late-spring and summer.
Vaccine appointments are now available through WDGPH for clinics beginning on Oct. 13; Appointments can be booked online at wdgpublichealth.ca/appointments.
Residents who want to book appointments for multiple family members or just need some extra help can call WDGPH at 1-800-265-7293.
Public Health said vaccines will also be available from participating pharmacies and primary care providers later in October.
