MOUNT FOREST – Residents in Wellington North now have a new local point of access for County social services.
A grand opening was held Monday for the new Wellington North Social Services Office, located inside the County of Wellington Community Services Centre at 311 Foster Street in Mount Forest.
Services available at the new office include a Social Services Help Centre, along with dedicated staff from the Children’s Early Years Division, Housing Services, and Ontario Works.
Residents can get information and resources, receive help with applications, and connect with County programs and other community supports.
“Having dedicated Social Services staff working right here in Wellington North means residents can connect with the supports they need closer to their homes,” said Warden Chris White. “Residents now have a local place to start when navigating Ontario Works, finding housing supports, or accessing Children’s Early Years services.”
Also located at the Community Services Centre are the Mount Forest Child Care and Learning Centre and the EarlyON Child and Family Centre.
As part of the building’s reconfiguration, the Child Care and Learning Centre has expanded, adding 31 licensed child care spaces.
“This is about making County services more accessible to the people who rely on them,” commented Luisa Artuso, Social Services Administrator. “By expanding our presence in northern Wellington, we’re making it easier for residents and families to find support in their own community.”
The Wellington North Social Services Office is open Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 311 Foster Street in Mount Forest.
