MAPLETON – A 25-year-old from Kitchener is facing two charges following a traffic stop in Mapleton Township.
Wellington County OPP say members of the Traffic Management Unit were conducting proactive traffic enforcement on Friday, at around 1:45 p.m., when they observed a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed on Highway 6.
Officers initiated a traffic stop and, following an investigation, charged the driver under the Highway Traffic Act with performing a stunt by excessive speed and possessing more than one driver’s licence.
Under provincial law, police say drivers charged with stunt driving face an immediate 14-day vehicle impoundment and a 30-day driver’s licence suspension.
The accused is scheduled to appear in provincial offences court in Guelph at a later date.
