GUELPH – A Fergus man is facing an impaired driving charge after police were called to a Guelph parking lot Sunday night.
Police say officers were called to a business on Speedvale Avenue East just after 9 p.m. following a report of a man who appeared to be intoxicated inside a vehicle.
Officers located the man in his parked vehicle and reportedly detected a strong smell of alcohol, along with other signs of impairment.
“He was arrested and transported to the police station, where tests revealed he had more than twice the legal amount of alcohol in his system,” police said in a news release.
A 56-year-old Fergus man is charged with impaired operation.
His licence was suspended for 90 days, and his vehicle was impounded for seven days.
