CENTRE WELLINGON – Elora’s Monster March not only brings the screams and scares, but also a heartfelt donation from the community.
Thanks to a food drive organized by Sensational Elora this past Saturday’s parade was able to gather roughly 530 pounds of food, all to be donated to the Centre Wellington Food Bank.
Curt McQueen, Centre Wellington Food Bank’s manager and executive director, said this donation “just put a smile to my face,” because this food will likely be used well into 2027.
When McQueen says “quieter” he is referring to the amount of incoming donations, which typically slows down during the holiday season, but hungry stomachs still need their next meal.
Regardless, McQueen said Sensational Elora’s support is much appreciated; he said over the years Sensational has contributed over $200,000 towards the food bank and food programs at Centre Wellington District High School.
He said the Monster March is another great way to show Centre Wellington’s heart.
For anyone wanting to make a personal donation the Centre Wellington Food Bank wants to highlight their “shopping list”; it’s a comprehensive list that includes of their most needed items.
As of Oct. 20, 2026, some of the most needed items include, but are not limited to, pasta sauce, canned vegetables and tomatoes, baked beans, cold cereal, peanut butter, jam, canned salmon and instant coffee.
