CENTRE WELLINGTON – The Township of Centre Wellington is receiving more than $707,000 from the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation for hosting Elements Casino Grand River.
OLG says the second-quarter payment, covering July through September, totals $707,182.
So far in the 2026-2027 fiscal year, the township has received more than $1.4 million. Since the gaming site opened in December 2003, Centre Wellington has collected nearly $49 million in payments.
According to a news release from OLG, “these payments to host communities are based on a formula in the Municipality Contribution Agreement that is consistently applied across all land-based casino sites in Ontario using a graduated scale of gaming revenue at the hosted site.”
Wellington-Halton Hills MPP Joseph Racinsky says the revenue helps support local priorities.
“OLG’s Municipality Contribution Agreement provides Centre Wellington with a share of local casino revenue to invest and enhance our community,” said Racinsky. “Gaming facilities generate economic activity, support local jobs and investment, and provide revenue that helps fund priorities that are important to the people of Ontario.”
Since 1994, OLG says host communities across Ontario have received more than $2.4 billion in non-tax gaming revenue.
The corporation says 100% of its profits are reinvested back into the province, while casino operators have invested more than $3 billion in private-sector capital projects across Ontario over the past decade.
