CENTRE WELLINGTON – A 62-year-old from Wellington North is facing three charges following an alleged stunt driving incident in Centre Wellington.
Wellington County OPP say officers were conducting proactive traffic enforcement on Tuesday morning at around 8:45 a.m. when they observed a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed on Sideroad 20.
Police initiated a traffic stop and, following an investigation, charged the driver with performing a stunt while driving due to excessive speed, speeding 50 kilometres per hour or more over the posted limit, and careless driving.
A photo from the OPP shows the radar marked the driver going 152 km/h.
Under the Highway Traffic Act, anyone charged with stunt driving faces an automatic 14-day vehicle impoundment and a 30-day driver’s licence suspension.
The accused is scheduled to appear in provincial offences court in Guelph at a later date.
