GUELPH – Guelph police are investigating after two children were approached by strangers and offered candy outside a south-end school Tuesday evening.
Police say the incident happened around 6:35 p.m. on October 27th, when a nine-year-old boy and a friend were playing at the school.
According to the boy’s mother, three people in a red Toyota approached the children, asked if they wanted candy, and invited them to get some from the car’s trunk.
The children immediately ran away from the area.
The occupants of the vehicle were described as two young males and one young female.
School officials were notified and sent a safety message to parents in the school community.
The message reminded families to teach children to avoid interacting with strangers, never enter a vehicle without their parents’ direct consent and report any suspicious interactions to a trusted adult.
Police continue to investigate.
