CENTRE WELLINGTON – With daylight saving time coming to an end this weekend, Centre Wellington Fire Rescue is reminding residents to check their smoke and carbon monoxide alarms to help keep their homes safe.
Clocks will fall back one hour early Sunday morning, November 1st, at 2 a.m., giving most Ontarians an extra hour of sleep.
Fire officials say the time change is also a good reminder to test alarms, replace batteries if needed, and make sure all devices are working properly.
Deputy Fire Chief of Fire Prevention and Public Education, Christopher Paluch, says smoke alarms should be tested every month.
Paluch also reminds residents that smoke and CO alarms should be replaced if they are 10 years old or older.
Centre Wellington Fire Rescue encourages residents to make alarm checks part of their routine whenever the clocks change.
Daylight saving time officially ends Sunday, November 1st, at 2 a.m.
