MINTO – The Town of Minto is looking for public input as it explores future attainable and affordable housing options in the community.
Two community discussions are being held on Thursday, November 12th, giving residents an opportunity to share their housing experiences and identify what types of housing are needed locally.
The Town has selected Grapl Inc. through a Request for Expressions of Interest process to explore potential housing opportunities and assess local housing needs.
Mayor Dave Turton says hearing directly from residents will be an important part of that work.
“We know that housing needs are changing, and finding options that people can afford and that meet their needs is important to the future of our community,” said Turton. “These discussions are an opportunity for residents to share their experiences and help us better understand what types of housing are needed in Minto.”
The sessions are open to residents of all ages, including young adults, families and seniors, as well as anyone considering a change in their housing situation.
Residents are encouraged to share their thoughts on housing availability and affordability, along with the types of housing, sizes and accessibility features they would like to see.
The two community discussions will take place:
-
Palmerston Lions Clubhouse: 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., at 120 Main Street West.
-
Harriston Train Station: 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., at 83 Arthur Street West.
Residents will also have an opportunity to register their interest in future attainable and affordable housing opportunities in Minto and receive project updates.
“This initiative aligns with Council’s strategic priorities, including exploring a greater mix of housing options for people at different income levels and supporting the long-term sustainability of the community,” the township said in a news release.
Residents from across Minto are welcome to attend either session.
