FERGUS- Centre Wellington Fire Rescue responded to a report of smoke at the store in Fergus late Thursday morning.
Fergus and Elora stations received the call at around 11:05am.
Deputy Fire Chief Jonathan Karn tells The Grand at 101 on scene “when we arrived all employees and patrons were out of the building”.
He says they spoke to maintenance staff on scene at the store and it was reported that there was an explosion in their compressor room.
Karn says their main goal was to make sure that everyone was out of the building, “which they were, there were no injuries, and then proceeded to work on ventilating this rather large structure, there was a haze of Freon Gas throughout the building.”
Karn says the Fire department is scaling back “we have completely ventilated the structure, the haze is gone”.
