ABOYNE – Explore a world of dinosaurs in the Feathers and Fossils exhibit, on display from January 31 until March 20 at the Wellington County Museum and Archives. Produced by Canada’s Dinosaur Park, this travelling exhibit takes visitors back in time to the Mesozoic Era when feathered dinosaurs roamed the earth.
“If you’ve ever wanted to see a moving, roaring dinosaur up close, you don’t want to miss this exhibit,” says Hailey Johnston, WCMA Curator. “Feathers and Fossils shows us what feathered dinosaurs may have looked like, based on the latest evidence uncovered by paleontologists.”
The exhibit features life-sized animatronic dinosaurs alongside authentic and replicated fossils, such as dinosaur skulls, bones, teeth, eggs, and even fossilized dinosaur poop. Visitors will have the opportunity to learn about the different types of dinosaurs, and how they are related to the many species of birds alive today.
Canada’s Dinosaur Park is a registered not-for-profit reptile sanctuary that works to protect the world’s reptile species. Its efforts are primarily devoted to education and participating in internationally regulated conservation programmes.
Please note that appointments to visit the Wellington County Museum are not currently necessary, but capacity limits are in place. If you plan to visit with a group, please call us at 519.846.0916 x5221 to set up a time for your group to visit.
The Wellington County Museum and Archives is located on Wellington Road 18 between Fergus and Elora. All patrons will be screened upon entry and must wear a mask or face covering, show proof of full COVID-19 vaccination, and adhere to all public health measures while inside the building. The galleries are open weekdays from 9:30 am to 4:30 pm and 1:00 to 5:00 pm on weekends. Admission is by donation.
