Over the last five years, Centre Wellington’s population has grown 10.8 per cent, the most out of all the municipalities that make up Wellington County.
According to the 2021 census released on Wednesday, Centre Wellington is home to 31,093 people, an increase of 10.8 per cent from the 2016 census, when the township’s population stood at 28,191.
Mayor Kelly Linton say it isn’t surprising that Centre Wellington is taking most of the growth within the county.
Linton says they know people are attracted to the area so the township will need to continue working toward providing attainable housing and jobs for those who want to live and work here.
Puslinch had the second-highest population growth rate in Wellington County, with a 8.3 per cent increase since 2016.
The 2016 census showed Puslinch to have 7,336 residents, while the 2021 census showed 7,944 residents.
