All things considered, Fred Aleksandrowicz, says the Centre Wellington food bank is coping well with rapidly increasing food inflation.
The Canadian Association of Food Banks says more people are going hungry, or having trouble putting food on the table because of inflationary pressures. That goes beyond food as fuel prices skyrocket, and mortgage rates increase.
Aleksandrowicz says Centre Wellington is not immune from those problems.
Aleksandrowicz says there has been about a 15 per cent increase in the number of people accessing the local food bank. But he says the generosity of the community is meeting that demand.
While that help is encouraging, Aleksansdrowicz, says he would be happy to be out of business. He says in a country as well off as Canada, there should be no need for Food Banks.
