On the first day of summer, we have the most appropriate type of weather.
We are under two different weather statements.
A Heat warning was issued yesterday afternoon, covering both today and tomorrow. Temperatures are already into the 30’s, with Humidex values approaching 40 degrees.
The afternoon, an air quality statement has been issued.
Hot and humid weather conditions are creating elevated pollution levels.
High levels of air pollution have developed. Hot and sunny conditions have resulted in increasing ground-level ozone concentrations in the above regions.
Higher pollution levels are expected to persist this afternoon through this evening.

Individuals may experience symptoms such as increased coughing, throat irritation, headaches or shortness of breath. Children, seniors, and those with cardiovascular or lung disease, such as asthma, are especially at risk.
