WELLINGTON COUNTY- Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Public Health is expected to receive the recently approved Omicron vaccine very soon.
At Wednesday’s Board of Health Meeting Dr. Nicola Mercer, Medical Officer of Health, announced plans for influenza and COVID vaccines to be given out in the next couple of weeks.

COVID Vaccines:
A provincial announcement is expected Thursday, but Mercer says the region will receive just over 12,000 doses of the Omicron Vaccine for the first two weeks.
She says those vaccine doses should first go to those who are most at risk.
Mercer says Public Health will see a much larger amount of vaccine doses within a few weeks after they receive the first batch for the first two weeks, and those 18 years and older will then be eligible to receive the booster.
She says this booster will make a difference this fall and encourages everyone to get the booster.
