CENTRE WELLINGTON – Centre Wellington Fire Rescue has received a donation from Enbridge gas to purchase firefighting training materials.
The announcement was made Thursday afternoon at the Fergus Fire Station by Kyle Kemp Supervisor of Operations, at Southeast Region – Waterloo North, Enbridge Gas.
Safe Community Project Assist is a program with the Fire Marshal’s Public Fire Safety Council that supplements existing training for Ontario volunteer and composite fire departments in the communities where Enbridge Gas operates.
Centre Wellington Fire Chief Tom Mulvey says the $5,000 donation will allow the fire department to expand the training library and knowledge to their firefighters.
Centre Wellington Mayor Shawn Watters was also in attendance and was very thankful to Enbridge for their donation to the fire department.
Since the launch of Safe Community Project Assist in 2012, 294 grants have been provided to Ontario fire departments for additional firefighter training.
