WELLINGTON NORTH – Wellington North has approved its 2023 budget with a 8.9 tax increase.
At Monday’s council meeting the decision was made unanimously, which will see the average assessed home pay an additional $144.64 on the tax bill.
Mayor Andy Lennox acknowledged the increase has understandably raised questions from residents.
Lennox noted that the increase only impacts the townships portion of the bill.
Following the approval of the budget, as part of an eight-year plan that includes fundraising, the township will begin collecting taxes in order to replace the Mount Forest pool.
A total of $350,000 will be collected this year for that project, representing almost half of the increase.
Council approved the budget bylaw unanimously.
