Wellington County residents should be keeping an eye out for letters this month regarding mandatory septic inspections. Nearly 775 properties in the county will have provincially mandated inspections of their septic systems in the coming weeks.
Properties will be chosen for inspection when they are within a highly vulnerable area in regard to the municipal water supply.
Is your property subject to the mandatory septic inspection program? If so, you'll soon receive a letter with details regarding the program.

In 2015 to 2017, the inaugural septic inspection program took place in the county for close to 650 properties with a 78% pass rate.
This provincial requirement will be carried out by Wellington Source Water Protection, who remind residents that upkeep of septic systems is an Ontario Building Code requirement.
Inspections will be completed by either a local Building Department Official or a consultant hired for the purpose of the inspection.
