A Tuesday Fergus fire has now been investigated and is not considered suspicious.
In a statement to The Grand at 101, Deputy Fire Chief Jonathan Karn said upon investigation the fire is believed to have started in the kitchen, in the area of the stove.
The fire has been deemed accidental.
Firefighters remained on scene for approximately two hours with the building then being released back to the homeowners. Preliminary damage estimate has been set at $100,000. Centre Wellington Fire would like to thank Wellington County OPP and Guelph Wellington Paramedic Service for their assistance at this fire.
Firefighters rescued four animals from the home including two dogs and two cats.
No injuries were reported as a result of the fire.
