The Township of Centre Wellington approved two seperate zoning amendments at Monday’s council meeting, allowing both buildings to be four storeys in height. The current bylaw only would have permitted three story construction.
The buildings, located at 350 St. Andrew Street West in Fergus and 183 Geddes Street in Elora, would both have a combination of residential and ground-floor commercial space.
Several councillors praised the developer for its community engagement and respect for heritage properties.
Per the two reports presented to council, staff conclude that the building proposals are consistent with provincial, county, and township policies aimed at encouraging growth in existing urban centres.
