Playgrounds continued to be a hot topic in Wellington North chambers this week.
A May delegation saw county resident Robin Ross make the case for putting the money used to install playgrounds elsewhere.
Ross said playgrounds are “detrimental economically” and suggested the funds could be used for various other purposes including field trips or supplying students with camp memberships.
This week, Crystal VanGerven was on the other side, as she did what Ross didn’t believe possible, and fundraised for a playground at Arthur Public School.
Councillor Steve McCabe was one of many councillors in full support.
VanGerven says the freed up funds allowed students to have a great year.
She explains when she installs the structures at Arthur Public School, she will receive HST back and use that for future maintenance.
The playground will be installed later this year.
