The Township of Centre Wellington approved a rezoning at council today. The move is to permit the construction of 118 single detached homes near the Fergus Golf Club.
Cheryl Shindruk and Hugh Handy made remarks to council about the series of revisions they craved to the development, and said they were in support of the development in relation to the housing crisis, within Centre Wellington and beyond.
The development, near Belwood Lake, would replace an older nine-hole golf course with the homes being integrated as part of an existing 18-hole course on Wellington Road 19 between Second and Third Line.
Brett Salmon, township Managing Director of Planning and Development, says one of the requirements in the application presented to council, a tree-buffer on the property line of an existing farm, can be met with a few more details sorted out.
Handy and Shindruk presented delegations regarding the buffer trees on the farm, a neighbouring property to theirs.
