WELLINGTON COUNTY – Three major projects have been approved by county council totaling over $30 million.
During yesterday’s meeting, Council approved construction tenders for the Arthur garage, the Erin library, and the supportive housing development at 65 Delhi St. in Guelph.
The garage project in Arthur is a new public works building on nine-acres of land for the County of Wellington. The garage is to be built on Wellington Road 12, near Arthur for a total of $16.8 million.
Meanwhile, the Erin Library project is set to be constructed at a former grist mill in Erin and comes to a total cost of $12.8 million.
The transitional housing project at 65 Delhi St. in Guelph comes in at $10.6 million. The project includes renovations to create a 28-bedroom temporary supportive housing building.
All three projects fall under the Construction Manager (CM) model, which according to a county report “is a widely used construction project delivery system in which the owner (the County) enters into a single agreement with a construction manager to act in an advisory capacity during the pre-construction phase and then assumes the role of the general contractor to perform the actual construction.”
