FERGUS – The Fergus Whalers have found their face of the franchise, naming their first captain in team history.
Jack McDonald joins them following a rousing success of a season as a member of the Exeter Hawks.
The Fergus native put up 15 goals and 25 assists for 40 points in 34 games.
The forward spoke to The Grand at 101 about his leadership abilities, and explained he likes to keep things light, while uniting the group as one.
McDonald’s favourite player is Auston Matthews, and he says he brings that type of game to the new Fergus PJHL squad.
He classifies himself as an offensive forward but says he can help the team with his defensive wherewithal as well.
For McDonald, being a Fergus native was a draw, but he also added he looks forward to championing a brand-new era of hockey, with a fresh team.
McDonald says he is thankful and excited to get started.
The puck drops for Fergus on September 16th against their new Highway 6 rivals in Mount Forest.
