CENTRE WELLINGTON – A local bus line that has been suspended since the outset of the pandemic has seen a push for a return from a long-time Elora resident.
The line courtesy of Elliott Bus Lines used to run from Elora through Fergus and into Guelph, finishing its route at the university.
Kaela Anderson started a Facebook page to gauge interest in the return of the bus line and says she has had several conversations with Centre Wellington staff.
While she believes there are several benefits to bringing back the bus, including reduced traffic volume and increased mobility for residents, Anderson says the ones with the power to make the change don’t relate to the issue.
She says she believes the return of the route would benefit several demographics.
Anderson went on to say 60 per cent of residents of the township travel to Guelph or Waterloo for work.
Anderson also vouched there wasn’t much promotional work done when the bus was running, stating you needed to “know someone who knew someone” to find out about it.
She suggested signage and social media promotion should the bus return.
