FERGUS – Proposed design improvements for a local Fergus park are still in the planning stages.
During a recent Centre Wellington council meeting, Confederation Park located off Queen Street East was brought up by Councillor Bronywnn Wilton asking if there was any update with designs.
Patricia Newson, Managing Director of Community Services, says work is still ongoing with storyboards and survey work so that the township has a package for a landscape architect to create a more detailed plan.
Newson notes the proposed work is just enhancing features so the park will still be used as a “passive park”.
Newson says while that area has been surveyed, access has not yet been gained to the properties they own.
Wilton feels more community input is needed since the park has a lot of people who live right along that stretch of land and don’t have access to many play structures or other types of uses anywhere close.
Newson said Wilton’s point was well taken and would consider putting the project on the township’s Connect CW website for more public information.
She says once the township has a design, they will look at holding a neighbourhood engagement for public input.
