A local youth made several hospital patients’ days recently with solely the written word.
The child is nine years old and just started grade five. Kaitlin Tucker doled out several dozen letters to Groves Memorial Hospital staff for patients.
Signed “dear friend,” these letters were intended to be a boost to those who need it within the community.
Nancy Peer Lilani, Manager of Groves Hospital Volunteer Association, says Tucker had nothing but the purest of reasoning for writing the letters.
Laura Burns, Elder Life Specialist at the hospital explained with her brother by her side, the Tuckers are community-minded kids.
Peer Lilani says there has been such an influx of letters, she is hoping to spread the love to the Wellington Terrace and other long-term care.
The letters contained a motivational quote or joke to go along with summer stories and other creative writing.
Per a Facebook post from Groves Memorial Hospital, recipients of Tucker’s letters said: “That really made my day.” and “That is so sweet!”
