PUSLINCH – Puslinch may be seeing more money allocated towards the removal of dead trees next year following a budget discussion in a council meeting earlier this week.
Councillor John Sepulis was the one to suggest a budget increase of five or ten thousand dollars in 2024.
$20,000 is the standard allocation.
Councillor Russell Hurst, who sparked the discussion by bringing up the issue of ash tree maintenance, said the problem at hand won’t be going away anytime soon if it’s not addressed.
While another concern was how to address trees surrounding hydro lines, Director of Public Works Mike Fowler stated that problem is currently a tough one to fix.
According to Fowler, sourcing out a contractor to use a bucket truck would make it easier to remove trees, specifically those in large clusters.
Council will return to the issue at a future meeting.
