WELLINGTON COUNTY – Multiple options were examined for addressing the future of county rideshare Ride Well, and the second of the two was ruled out in a recommendation from a consultant.
The suggested method recommends that the county pursue option one with the flat rate of $42 per hour.
Option two, involving a partnership with service Voyago, was dismissed despite the chance of increased customer perception.
The report says growth in ridership may result in continued pressure to increase the operating rate unless efficiencies are found in the system.
It is projected Uber’s integration, a partnership that began in July, will alleviate some worries as to cancelled trips.
The increase in rate of option two from $42 per hour to $70 per hour would add $266,000 in annual costs over option one. This additional cost is equivalent to the cost of an additional 96 hours of weekly service under the option one model.
The report will be presented at an economic development meeting in the county Tuesday at 10:00 a.m..
