FERGUS – Centre Wellington Township is taking next steps for its new business park, by inviting interested parties to submit a Letter of Intent.
The township says now that the land has been zoned and serviced, Letter of Intent is the next step as businesses work towards acquiring a lot in the municipal business park and has approximately 45 acres of land for the area’s new business park.
“Located in the north-east area of Fergus, with easy access to Highway 6, the new business park will provide shovel-ready employment lands. The township also has other municipal business park land available, at 101 Gregson Court and 970 Gartshore Street, Fergus,” stated a news release.
Last month, council approved the price per acre to be $450,000.
The township says all interested parties will be thoroughly evaluated using a comprehensive evaluation matrix including:
- Jobs created – total jobs and jobs per acre.
- Capital investment of the project.
- Sector – Outline the business sector, for example, service, multi-use, manufacturing.
- Alignment with priority sectors, outlined in Appendix B of the Letter of Intent.
- Local / External Investment. For example, investment from a business already located in the Township of Centre Wellington, County of Wellington, or outside of the County of Wellington.
- Strategic future potential of the company – detail around your business expansion and rationale for obtaining the land.
“I am thrilled that our last term of Council’s Economic Development committee had the foresight to plan and shape a business park for the North end of Fergus,” said Mayor Shawn Watters. “Our commitment is in providing fully serviced lands to dynamic and diverse industries, leaning on our strategic goal of ensuring those who live in Centre Wellington, can also work in Centre Wellington.”
Prospects and interested parties are invited to submit a Letter of Intent by 12pm (noon) local time on October 23, 2023.
