MOUNT FOREST – As the Mount Forest Pool project moves forward, council in Wellington North are working through ways to come up with the money to build.
In a Tuesday meeting, councillor Sherry Burke, Chair of the Aquatics Committee, said she wishes more money would be allocated toward recreational facilities.
Burke added the cost estimate, of over $5 million, could still rise.
She didn’t mince words when expressing her frustrations.
Currently, $300,000 remain unaccounted for, though fundraising is in place. Councillor Steve McCabe voiced his concern over these dollars.
When Burke made the request for more allocation towards aquatics and other recreation buildings, McCabe responded, saying that would need to be a “fulsome discussion.”
Mayor Andy Lennox, meanwhile, said he was delighted to see what he considers a reasonable cost estimate.
Council received the report and cost estimate for information.
