ERIN – Council in Erin was receptive to a delegation from the chamber of commerce at a meeting yesterday.
Ann Shanahan, representing the chamber, reminded council her group wasn’t coming to council to request a large sum of money. She said the issue is more-so relating to the release of $41,000 from economic development.
Councilor Cathy Aylard was one of many councillors who were on board with creating a “playbook” for how to move forward, as Shanahan and the chamber attempt to support businesses through wastewater construction in Erin.
Aylard applauded the chamber’s efforts to push ahead with this campaign.
Shanahan went on to say signs and other promotional items have been purchased and these funds were to offset some of those costs.
The chamber also requested an additional $41,000 to be included in next year’s budget, and council voted in favour of including this in the first draft of the document.
