GUELPH – A woman is charged with impaired driving after another woman was hit by a car in Guelph Wednesday evening.
Shortly after 8 p.m., Guelph Police say a car turning left from Gordon Street to Waterloo Avenue struck the woman within the pedestrian crossing, knocking her to the ground. Both women attended the police station nearby to report the collision.
Police say the victim was transported to hospital for treatment of a minor head injury.
“While speaking to the driver, an officer detected an odour of alcoholic beverage on her breath. She failed a roadside breath test, and further testing confirmed she had more than the legal amount of alcohol in her system,” police said in a news release.
Police say investigation revealed her four-year-old child was in the car at the time.
A 38-year-old Guelph woman is charged with impaired driving and failing to yield to a pedestrian. Her driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days and her vehicle was impounded for seven days.
