ELORA – The long-discussed Middlebrook Place Bridge will be back before council in Centre Wellington at Monday’s meeting.
In July, staff were directed to consult with the Township of Woolwich and the Save Middlebrook Bridge Community Group to investigate new options for the structure.
According to a report that will come before council at the meeting, Woolwich staff directed GM Blueplan to perform a site visit and review the condition of the bridge.
The review shows the bridge is continuing to degrade at a fast rate. Most notably, steel stringers that the wood deck rests on have completely failed.
GM Blueplan concluded that rehabilitation of the existing truss structure is not recommended.
It is estimated it will cost upwards of $615,000 to remove without replacement and $1,946,800 to remove and replace.
The report will be received for information.
