ELORA – Aypa Power’s hope to bring a 15-acre battery energy storage system to Elora was met with concern from several members of council during Monday’s meeting.
The proposal is for the system to be located on privately owned land between Second Line and Guelph Road, next to an existing Hydro One transmission line.
Councillor Jennifer Adams had several questions of the developer, as she was concerned among other things about how the development would fit into a growing area of town.
Adams also said she wonders about the impact of this type of plant on the earth.
Several other councillors voiced issues including those related to cleanup cost and establishing indigenous relationships.
The storage system would bring approximately six full-time jobs following the creation of 200-300 during a lengthy construction.
Staff will now prepare a report before consulting with Aypa Power down the line.
