ERIN – Phase 2 construction of the new Erin Library is now underway.
The new library will be located at the former grist mill in the Village of Erin.
A report going before the county’s Information, Heritage and Seniors committee Wednesday afternoon says Phase 1 of construction is now complete.
The work included removal of all the old structure and debris from inside the four exterior stone walls as well as structurally supporting the stone walls in preparation for phase 2 of the construction project.
The report says the phase 2 contractor has now mobilized on site which includes securing the site with construction fencing, site signage, and setting up the site office. Some selective concrete removals have begun.
Work to be completed in the next month includes:
- Wall shoring will be installed
- Ground floor concrete wall & floor removal will be completed
- Excavation inside building will be done
- Any required micro-piles or helical piles will be installed
- Concrete footing & foundations will be underway
The $12.8 million project is scheduled to be completed in the spring of 2025.
